Happy New Year, and thanks to all who attended the 2013 Student Symposium! The COMBINE team is excited to see the growing community of students in computational biology and bioinformatics. We are delighted to take part in furthering exchanges and networking within our community.
Over 60 students and researchers attended from all across Melbourne, including the The Burnet Institute, Deakin University, The IBM Collaboratory for Life Sciences, La Trobe University, Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Monash University, The Murdoch Childrens Research Institute, NICTA, RMIT, Swinburne University, The University of Melbourne and The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute.
We enjoyed great presentations from 6 students (honours, masters and PhD) who shared their leading edge research on a range of topics.
Finally, we would like to thank our panel of established scientists who shared insightful information about their careers in computational biology and bioinformatics, and answered questions about their view of the field now and for the future.
We thank all who attended and supported us, and look forward to Symposium 2014!
